The building side of things

BTM is dominated by three- and four-storey buildings put up in the 1990s and 2000s, most without lifts. Staircases are narrow, landings are tight, and the crew size — not the vehicle — is what determines whether your move takes three hours or six. When you call, the two most useful things you can tell us are the floor number and whether there is a lift. They change the quote more than the distance does.

How a booking works

You call or message with the floor, the lift situation and a rough list. We look at the goods — a quick visit, or photographs and a video walkthrough, which for a small move is usually enough. You get a written quote with the vehicle and crew named. On the day we pack, dismantle the bed and wardrobe, load, move, reassemble and place your cartons in the right room. Waste leaves with us.

Saving money on a BTM move, honestly

Move mid-month if you can — month-end is the most expensive week in the industry. Move on a weekday rather than a Saturday. Splitting a move with a flatmate

A situation we deal with constantly in BTM: three people share a flat, the lease ends, and all three are going to different places. The instinct is to book three separate movers. It is usually cheaper to book one job with three drop points.
